Eliza and Bart - September 19, 2009

We started the day with Eliza and Bart in Stanley Park at the Rose Garden. We had made alternate plans as the day was forecast as rainy...not just rainy but VERY rainy, but once again the weather gods smiled down upon us and the sky just got bluer and bluer as the morning went on.

Here's Bart...

...and Eliza....

The girls....

...and the guys...

I described this shot as similar to the Beatles "Abby Road" cover, but one of the guys knew it as the Red Hot Chili Peppers version. Yeah, but with clothes!

Under the archway.

Susannah got talking to this elderly couple sitting on the bench enjoying the sun. We decided to do a shot with them in it.

These two are naturally sexy!

Then it was over to St Casimir's for their ceremony (in Polish!). Here's Eliza sharing a moment with someone behind...

The newlyweds...

Their rings - engraved with initials and date...

At the reception Eliza and Bart we greeted by their parents and blessed with the giving and receiving of bread...

Here's their first dance...

And lastly, one of my favorites of the day...

Congratulations Eliza and Bart and all the best for your future together!

Diane, Gregg, Austin and Moraya - year 3

This is the third year I've shot family portraits for Diane and Gregg. Every time Diane calls I can't believe it has been another year. This year they have big news - they are moving to Australia, so they decided to do their shoot at home in the yard.

Ladies and gentlemen...

Good luck with the move to Oz!

Anna & David - September 12, 2009

Anna & David were married at Minoru Chapel. I started the day at Anna's parents' house just as Anna was having her veil put in.

Here's our beautiful bride...

Anna and David had a 1930's Buick as their wedding car...

Here is Anna's Dad walking her down the aisle. I love the look on David's Mom's face as she sees her soon to be daughter-in-law....

After the ceremony the newlyweds released doves....

Then we headed Downtown to Coal Harbour to do some city shots...

Best dip of the year!

Back at the Roma Hall for the reception. Here are a few images of the decor...

Ice-sculpture...

Rings and favours (wine stoppers - the wine for the reception was made by Anna's Dad).

Congratulations Anna and David!

Alix & Nick - September 7, 2009

Alix and Nick hired me from the States for their destination wedding in Vancouver and as they only arrived the day before we met for the very first time at their wedding.

It was our pleasure to photograph their Orthodox wedding at St Sava's on 63rd Ave. Rich in colour and tradition, it was amazing to be a part of. Here are a few of the elements of the ceremony.

The church...

The crowns...

Being led around the table three times...

Married!

Kissing the cross...

After the ceremony we headed to Queen Elizabeth Park for family photos and then some couple shots. It had poured with rain on Sunday but Vancouver put on it's best weather for our visitors...

Alix and Nick joined the group of friends and relatives who had traveled here for the ceremony for a lunch reception at Seasons in the Park. I loved their cake topper...

And their favours - luggage tags!

The newlyweds were departing on an Alaskan Cruise for their honeymoon that afternoon. Here is their ship behind them at Canada Place...

It was our pleasure to meet you both.  Happy Cruising!

Christine & Andrew - September 5, 2009

Well the Labour Day long weekend is the last big weekend of the summer. This long weekend weather forecast? 100% rain, rain, rain. So, how surprised were we all to wake up on Saturday morning to find that we might be lucky and the rain might hold off? Very.....phew!

I caught up with the ladies at bridesmaid Julia's house in North Van, quite close to the venue. I had shot Julia and Evren's wedding in 2007 (was it really 2 years ago?) and it was great to see them again.

Everyone was running around getting ready, but Christine seemed very calm and collected...

Here's Christine, ready to go...

Meanwhile, Andrew waiting at Canyon House at the Capilano Suspension Bridge, was getting some nerve calming help from his brother...

The guys, led by the Minister, having a final moment just before the ceremony...

Andrew's ring proved to be a bit stubborn...

After the ceremony we managed to clear the throngs of tourists from part of the bridge for a minute...

And did some shots in the forest...

Back at the reception there was singing....

...cupcakes....

...and some great speeches....

Here's our last shot of the night before the party continued on with dancing. Congratulations Christine and Andrew!
