Alana & Will - July 18, 2009

We spent last weekend on the Island at Shawnigan lake School where Alana had gone to school. This wedding was an awesome fun-filled weekend with guest staying over in the dorms and other nearby accommodations.  Each day was filled with fun activities for adults and kids alike.

Now for a brief overview....

First up on Friday night was the hat party......this gentleman would be wearing a different hat the following day - he was performing the ceremony.

After dinner everyone was treated to Nearly Neil - Bobby Bruce - who was awesome!

The next morning was the sports day event - young and old alike joined in for games and activities.

While the sports activities were taking place Alana was chilling at the Aerie Resort. I joined here there with her bridesmaids in time for hair and makeup.  Here is the view from the balcony....

Alana's gifts to her bridesmaids were beautiful necklaces with little hummingbirds attached....I know these were very special.

I totally love this candid of Alana getting dressed.....

Here's Will and the guys back at the School....

And Alana ready to go......

Will had to wait a little bit longer than expected to see his beautiful bride, but it was worth it.  I always love this moment....

The grounds of the School were so diverse and beautiful.  We found this great grove of trees with some cool light....

And then a grassy knoll - the colour and texture of the grass is one of my favourite summer things......

The reception hall was just something else!  With it's long rows of tables and high ceilings it looked like the dining room of Hogwarts. The decor was amazing!

These two look so happy together....this may have been when the MC announced he had registered a binary star as "AlanalovesWill" which is maybe the coolest gift ever!

Here's a final shot of the hall with the candles and ambient lights.  Just beautiful.

What a weekend!  I'm sure everyone had a fab time.  Every detail was thought of and guests were totally taken care of - it was hard to believe that Alana had planned the whole weekend in just 5 months!

Alana and Will - we wish you all the best for a long and happy future together!

Liz & Chris - July 11, 2009

Liz and Chris also decided to do their couple photography before their wedding so they could spend more time with their guests. I started my day with Liz just before she put her dress on and got some great accessory shots. I had to share this one of Liz's shoes - signed for good luck!

Here's our beautiful bride....

The ladies were a little later getting out of the house than expected so Chris and the guys had to wait awhile at the pier....

But it was worth the wait!

The sun was high in the sky and just beating down!  It was hot, hot, hot!  I got some awesome veil shots though....

These two make a great couple....

After the pier we went to the Port Moody Train Museum and got some photos there....

And then it was a quick stop at Barnett Marine Park on the way to the Vancouver Golf Club to get married....

Here's Liz and her Dad.....

There were a couple of hiccups during the day - the Port Mann Bridge was closed down which meant many guests (including Chris's parents) couldn't make it on time so the ceremony was delayed.  The air conditioning wasn't working so the reception room was super hot - some of the speeches and the dancing was delayed until the sun went down and the room cooled off - meanwhile guests enjoyed chatting on the patio. Throughout the whole day though, Liz and Chris kept their laidback cool and just enjoyed themselves.

All the best you two!

Camping - Nairn Falls

Last week we managed to get away for a quick camping trip. This is something we are trying to do once a month throughout summer - a quick trip out of the city to get away from the computer and recharge our batteries.  This summer is very very busy and we have found a "weekend away" (always actually weekdays) to be great to lower the stress levels and keep us on our game.

This trip was to Nairn Falls near Pemberton. The campground is just off the main highway and has only basic facilities, but the views are amazing.

We asked for a campsite overlooking the river.  This is an almost 180˚ panorama of what we could see....

This is just strolling around the campground....

We actually stopped at some of the viewpoints on the Sea to Sky Highway on the way home. It was worth stopping.....

Ok, now back to work!

Jacqueline & Maury - July 4, 2009

I am a little slow in blogging about these guys but there were soooo many images to look through I had a hard time choosing.

Jacqueline and Maury had put a ton of thought into every little detail of their wedding. Maury (and now Jacqueline)'s name is Lum, and they had incorporated the Chinese character into their wedding in the invitations, the cake and cupcakes, and even Jacqueline's shoes!

I started with Jacqueline and the girls at her Mom's place while Susannah was with the guys in Yaletown.  Jacqueline and Maury had decided to do all their photography before the ceremony so they could get the most out of their photo time and not keep their guests waiting.  We organised a "first look" outside their apartment.....

A special request was made to incorporate their bicycles into some shots....

Next we headed down to the Roundhouse to do some shots there and around the harbour.  It was the final day of the Vancouver Jazz Festival and things were humming, but we still got some great shots.

These two were asked by many passers-by if they were models or if it were a real wedding...

After the shoot we went to the University Golf Club for the ceremony. I snuck in a couple of extra shots of the newlyweds before we went into the reception...

The reception was packed full of entertainment and emotion - too much to share here. Their first dance was awesome!  It began as a slow dance......

...then surprised everyone by becoming a SALSA!

And then, it became even faster and hotter by becoming a group dance!  Wicked!

Here's our last shot....

Congratulations Jacqueline and Maury and all the best for a long and happy future together.

Ethan's Mom contacted me for a few pictures of her little guy a several weeks ago. We decided to go for some outdoor shots so Ethan could run around and be at his most natural but then it rained. We re-scheduled and met up at trout Lake on Tuesday for the session. The sun was just beating down.
